- ➤ Beers of the World will close its Rochester store (2599 East Henrietta Road) by the end of February but will continue operating in Batavia at Angotti Beverage as industry shifts affect alcohol sales. The local store will also reduce hours starting Saturday. WXXI News
- ➤ Beers of the World, a longtime beverage destination in Rochester, will close its Henrietta store at 2599 East Henrietta Road on Feb. 28 due to changes in the economy + beer industry. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Disney on Ice has entertained audiences at Blue Cross Arena with characters from Frozen & Encanto. Yesterday’s show was held on Jan. 2 and today there are performances at 11:00 AM, 3:00 PM, and 7:00 PM, with another set scheduled for Sunday at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM. ABC 13
- ➤ Elevate Dance Center opened its new downtown venue on Pitkin Street last year — a step that launched Elevate Events for private and corporate functions — and now provides more dance classes and event space. Today the studio hosts a community celebration at 7:00 p.m. with a salsa workshop, live performances and guided tours. ABC 13

- ➤ On New Year's Day, 19 states including New York raised minimum wages, benefiting 8.3+ million workers and adding about $5 billion in earnings nationwide. The federal rate remained at $7.25, prompting states to adjust pay for rising living costs. NewsRadio WHAM

- ➤ The New York State Department of Health confirmed on Friday that the state saw a record-high week of flu hospitalizations—nearly 1,000 more than the prior week—bringing the total to 4,546 cases as officials warn of a severe flu season. News 10

- ➤ Faber Builders recognized Section V athletes for Dec. 22-28 when senior wrestler Alivia Cartwright (over 7,000 votes) won her 132-pound class at the Midlakes Frosty's Freestyle Festival Tournament and forward Ryan Carmody earned key goals and assists in wins at Aquinas and against Frontier. - ➤ USA Hockey announced its full roster for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, and Rochester native Haley Winn, a Bishop Kearney High School graduate, was named as a defender. Winn played in previous world championships and will make her Olympic debut at the games. News 10
- ➤ The Bills will host the Jets on Sunday, Jan. 4 at Highmark Stadium with clear skies and freezing temperatures near 27 degrees and headwinds reaching 21 mph.
