"From the fury of the Northmen, good Lord deliver us."

The Old Shires are under siege in 872 AD, reeling from the onslaught of the Great Heathen Army. With much of Britain already fallen to the Viking invaders, the English people pin their hopes on Alfred—a young, unproven king. His fierce defense of his realm, its heritage, and the divine Light will ultimately grant him the title of "the Great." In this brutal Age of Swords, the forces of Light and Dark clash without mercy.

The PCs, members of the Briar Knights, Champions of The Light, travel back in time to the village of Godney, where they're to prevent an embittered warrior from fulfilling his Destiny to free an evil wraith.
